Coronavirus and the courts

Pandemic-era resources for courts

At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Conference of Chief Justices and Conference of State Court Administrators established a Rapid Response Team (RRT), staffed by NCSC, that created a roadmap to help state courts move forward. In 2021, the RRT’s Implementation Lab allowed courts from across the country to participate in a real-time national learning community. State courts are emerging from the pandemic facing ongoing challenges—and huge opportunities to innovate in the delivery of court services. The resources below include our most in-demand resources from the last several years, along with some of our newest reports and products. Older information is housed below in the “Additional Resources” section.

Our national map can direct you to state-by-state information about virtual hearings, including resources, how-to guides, and channel directories.

NCSC collected hundreds of emergency orders from state Supreme Courts as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded. While almost all of them have either expired or been superseded by newer orders, you can access the entire collection here.
