Virginia court administrator to lead two national court organizations

Karl HadeWilliamsburg, Va., (July 27, 2022) – Karl R. Hade, Executive Secretary of the Virginia Supreme Court, has been named president of the Conference of State Court Administrators (COSCA) and vice chair of the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) Board of Directors. Both one-year terms began this week during COSCA’s annual conference and NCSC’s Board of Directors meetings in Chicago.

COSCA is comprised of the chief executives of the court systems in each state, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. territories. The Conference is committed to strengthening the judicial branch by improving the quality of state courts and increasing the public’s trust and confidence in the justice system. It works closely with the Conference of Chief Justices on issues of mutual interest.

“Karl Hade is a pragmatic problem solver, whether that is addressing issues in Richmond or working with peers nationally,” said Mary C. McQueen, president of the National Center for State Courts.

Hade has been Virginia’s top court executive since 2005. He previously held positions with the Supreme Court of Virginia in judicial information technology, systems development and court management. Hade has served on the COSCA board of directors for five years and has chaired a number of committees and work groups. He received his bachelor’s and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Richmond.
